Monday Mornin' Work's in Progess

Days like this one.....lovin' the sunshine pouring in through my window, while I work away.



Sewing away on a gorgeous punchy quilt~ What do ya think? Is it pretty in pink?



Just a few more strips around and it'll be done!



I saw these gorgeous fabrics last Saturday, over here, and I had to have them. By the very next day I couldn't wait to get to work, and it just fell together at once. Don't you love it when this sort of fabric magic happens! Let me tell you, it doesn't always happen this way.
Maybe it's my kids music I'm hopping around to. Bobs & Lolo is hoppin fun, and addictive. It's not the kind of music you want to shut off after the first half hour.....they rock! Maybe it's because they are from Vancouver Island?!

Baby Doll Sling Tutorial

Have you ever attempted to make one of these baby doll slings for your little sweetie? They are easy peasy and oh so pleasing to the little mama's.

Look how her baby rides in style, tucked in so cozy.

All you need is TWO strips of your little mama's favorite fabric, cut approximately 13 inches wide. You will need TWO 13 inch wide pieces of fabric to sew together times the length of the fabric as it is. (For example, most yardage is typically 45 inches wide) So your measurements will be 13" wide by 45 inches long. You may need to add some length for taller kids. We used the ice cream cone's for the middle fabric and striped it with the peachy pink on each side. (Per my daughter's request)....however, you don't have to get that fancy. Sew the two together, inside out. When you are finished sewing, turn the fabric inside out so no seams are showing. Be sure to leave an opening on one end. Now, you can sew the opening shut.

Next, you will need two rings. You can find these at your local fabric or craft store.

Grab hold of your fabric sling, and shove BOTH rings through one end. Please note that it will feel a bit tight as you pull them through.

Next, fold the edge of the fabric (with the rings looped through) over to the other side. Sew the end of the folded over fabric into place, so the rings won't come undone. If you look closely you can see my zig zag stitches. Click on the above photo to enlarge it. Are you with me? It's really easy~ You can figure it out.

There you have it! A custom made baby doll sling.


To tie on your new baby sling, simply drape the fabric over one shoulder and under the opposite arm. Pull the end of the sling through the rings and cinch it in until it is secure.

Sunny side up

Don't you just love this sunny fabric! I ordered a bunch of it last week with the purpose of making it into a tablecloth. I was so excited, that I got to work as soon as the fabric arrived. I used some cute black and white polka dots for a little border print between the Casey Scroll and the stripes. How fun is that!



Sorry peeps, this post is not about the fun thing I made in the last post. I have something fun in the works.....it's almost done! I'll be back with the details soon. Just a small little something that I have wanted to do for quite some time now.

















As soon as my girlie saw me get out the camera, she grabbed a pillow, pulled up the stool, and cozied on in for the photo shoot. She looked so adorable sitting here, having her breakfast in the sun, so I had to share.

Sew what?

Finally getting back to the sewing machine after another nasty bout of the flu in our house....not much fun. I'd have to say that this has been the worst Winter so far for illness in our house.
So to cheer myself up, I'm sewing a little something.


What do you think this gorgeous pile of fabric will turn into? Come on back tomorrow and see what it has turned into. Hint, it's not another one of these, or these. No, not this time. It's going to be a little something for my shop. The oh so neglected shop! It's about time I added some new things over there!

I have a lot of ideas in the works......finally chipping away at the first on the list....but this little project today is for some sewing therapy. Holding heads and cleaning up puke all week is not the best outlet. But it's the love of a mother for her children, and that's what I love to do best.....love my sweet kiddos.

Thunder Cakes!

We read this fun book by Patricia Polacco, and made some mini heart shaped thunder cakes. I just love her fun whimsical illustrations, and loving stories.
