British Columbia: Part II
One night, we took a picnic supper down to Dundarave Beach. We met up with some good friends of ours, and of course lots of family!
Mom, look what I found on the beach!
Sunset on the beach!
After our picnic supper, we took the long way home and drove through Stanley Park to see the sunset over English Bay! Love it!
Colorful zinnias at Dundarave Beach. I want some in my garden!

Feet off the ground: Part I
Well, we're back home, now! I have so many fun photos to post of our little getaway to beautiful British Columbia. The sunshine was plentiful, so that meant a lot of fun outdoor hikes, beach picnic that lasted until sunset, and catching up with the family......I will break up my stories into three posts.....here is the first installment.......
Above the clouds....on our way to Vancouver, BC!
Capilano Suspension Bridge: Treetops Adventure
Green overload! We got used to all the green vegetation in British Columbia while we were there, and it was pretty shocking to arrive back home to the dry, golden hills. We only have green overload for half of our year, in our part of the world!
Totem poles!
CLIFFWALK!
"240 custom steel T-posts were plasma cut by hand and over 1,800 bolts secured CLIFFWALK and shored up and suspect rock. That was the easy bit compared to the 16 anchor points used to cantilever the walkway over the precipice. Each was painstakingly set in the ancient granite - some penetrating six meters deep."
I admit I had a few butterflies in my stomach as I walked along this pathway, hanging out over the ground which was far, far below! Once we got going, the butterflies eased.....walking along the granite cliffs, in and out of trees, breathing in the fresh, fresh air and Douglass fir and spruce trees, is breathtaking! I can't wait to go back!

The first of August
Today I turned the calendar to August. August is one of those months that I am reluctant to see come around......to me, it means that school is starting again for some.....the care free days of summer are winding down.....we love summertime! August, you have some good times in store for us! I know you do! We look forward to more cobbler making, another batch or two of jam, pool time, traveling, bike riding, family time, delicious meals outside, homemade Popsicles, fresh summer fruit and vegetables, quilting, still going to make a summer skirt, floppy hats, sunshine!

One good thing I do know, is that the warm days of sunshine are not over! For us, summer weather lasts through September and October! Here's to more glorious days spent outdoors!
Summer's lease
hath all too short a date.
