I told you June was wedding month

June was our golden wedding month! Our day was so special, and I can remember every bit of it! Last week was our Anniversary......

Happy 9th Anniversary!

Happy Anniversaries are so much fun to celebrate!

For our Anniversary, we love to go back to the gardens where we said our vows.... Taking photos and walking around holding hands, you know, the romantic kind of stuff, when you get a night off together. I want to remember nights like this forever.....when the sun sets in the west, filtering through the trees, and making gold on everything it touches.

summertime colors!

These gardens are a hidden gem in the big city.........even apple trees, fig trees, lots of lavender, dill, herbs, vegetables, you name it. It's so pretty there in the evening light.....we had the place to ourselves. Just us and the deer. Yes, the deer hang out there stealing nibbles off the trees and plants. They are oh so naughty, but I can't blame them for picking such a spot to visit.

I am so excited to embark on another wonderful year of marriage. It seems just like yesterday we tied the knot. I love my hunny~ Did you know that love gets better with age? Ahhhh~

June is wedding month!

June has been a busy month for our household.........lots of goodness to celebrate...weddings, anniversaries, birthdays, end of the school year, and the official start of summer!

Table Runner ~ Wedding gift for someone sweet

I love summertime! Hearing the sound of crickets outside of my window at nighttime, as I am drifting off to sleep. Laying out by the pool.........heading to the beach for a picnic. Lazy days. More daylight and sunshine = longer days to spend outdoors. Sleeping in.........making pancakes or crepes for breakfast. Eating outdoors. What does summertime mean to you? What are your special memories and traditions? Something that I enjoy doing each summer, is making a few batches of jam. In fact, I just had this discussion with my husband about why I bother making homemade jam, when it is just as cheap to buy it. Well, the answer is simply because nothing beats the smell of fresh fruit, stirring the bubbly pot of juicy goodness, and the reward of the delicious colorful fruit that lasts through the winter months. It just thrills me to bits to have my shelves stocked with a variety of homemade jams. Nothing better than homemade! Same reason we make a quilt, rather than go buy one at Potterybarn, right! Of course it costs more to sew your own quilt, and throw in the labor time, etc.....but it is so worth it. It is an experience, memories, an heirloom, and a work of art.

Happy summer, my friends!! I'm dreaming of collecting some fresh fruit! ~~ Oh yeah, that table runner in the above photo........it's a wedding gift for another lovely June wedding.

A trip to the beach

This beach holds a lot of special memories for me..........I love how the ice plant clings to the sandy cliffs. It is the perfect wind block, and cozy spot to put your blanket down and take a nap in the sunshine. Just breathe in the salty air, and feel refreshed and rejuvenated. I always have loved the ocean. I used to dream of living right on the coast.......

Montara Beach

.....my old sunbathing pad..........boogie boarding beach............picnic-ing beach .......my place to escape and unwind. It's the first place my husband and I went on a date to! Special memories and secrets!

THE beach!

Now we love to come back here and bring our girls.......we all share in the special memories of our special time at the coast.

Flying along Highway 92

Driving back home, up the highway, this is what is along side of the road......fields of rich, sandy soil.......filled with rows upon rows of flowers....and then a field of strawberries...........artichokes, etc....in the Fall, the pumpkins patches are a big feature......

Marriage of Pop Garden & Sis Boom!

..........Nature does inspire us to create.......rows of flowers....rows of flowery fabric!

Punchy Pillows

Some pillows for a friend's wedding gift. Oh la la............very dreamy.........I will miss these beauties. I'm enjoying them before wrapping them up and sending them off to their new home.

Monday Ramblings...and a curtain call

Happy Monday, all!

Here is a fun little project I worked on last week..........Dad and Mom remodeled their bathroom this past month, and I thought it would be fun to sew them a pretty new shower curtain. Heather Bailey's Pop Garden and Bijoux prints were just perfect.

Pop Garden shower curtain

I'm glad I had enough of the fabric to work with, because I had to line the pattern up, when I sewed the two panels together. It was a bit challenging with the stripes, but I managed.

Very cheerful, indeed.

Sipping and sewing

So, yesterday was the last day of school for the year! Yippee! We celebrated with homemade fruit smoothies. YUMMY~ The girls love picking out the fruit and then watching it whirrrrrr away in the blender, along with some yogurt, orange juice and buttermilk.

Fruit Smoothies

Unfortunately for moi, I was a little under the weather yesterday, so I hung out in bed for most of the day. I am not good for sitting still, so when I am sick, which thankfully doesn't happen very often.........I feel super frustrated laying in bed. I had the girls pick out some cute flower fabrics and bring them to me. Next, they cut out some simple shapes, and I taught them how to embroider around the fabric. Simple, but adorable at the same time.

Mixed Media by my girlie

.........not quite sure what we will do with this piece......I am thinking it will make a cute pillow top for their room.......we'll see. At any rate, it was a good excuse to cozy up with my sweeties and have some fun sewing time.

Delicious weekend

Don't you love it when you slice a strawberry and you find a beautiful heart shape inside! Strawberries go so well with crepes. Gluten-free crepes!

breakfast

Yummy~

i heart strawberries

so adorable!

Look what the mailman brought me on Friday! I was sure fortunate to win this adorable clutch, made by Lori Marie! I entered the contest over here........and last week I got a call from Diablo magazine saying I WON! No way! If you are a San Francisco East Bay resident, you really should check out the Diablo magazine. They are always having a contest for free tickets, etc....... this magazine is so informative.......in fact, I just read about some mountain lion sightings in the Pleasanton area. Yikes. Something else that is really fun, is the TodaysMama link, for Bay Area Mama, from the Diablo magazine.....lots of fun tips, stories, and insightful articles, you name it!

*If you would like to purchase something just as cute, check out Lori's shop, or her blog for updates and pretty little things, indeed. Lori is a sweetheart, and I'm so glad to have met her through the blogging world, a couple of years ago.*

cherries

These colorful, and juicy cherries have not lasted very long in this cute little bowl..........they are just about gone!

I hope your weekend was just as yummy!
