Zig-zagging the real jobs, & signs of spring

Do you ever have days like me, where you know you really, really want to get something done, even have a deadline, and you get side tracked with another project or task that is simply "more desireable" than the one you really need to get done?!

Today was just that for me........I woke up, made a medley of breakfasts, and lunches...got the school kids out the door and off to school, and opened the front door to see this glorious rainbow! So sparkly, so pristine, so inspiring and so promising!

fresh new day!

Today was just one of those dodge the drudgery days.....I sewed! I finised up some skirts for the girls (still have the waistband on mine to take in) ...... hung the girls skirts up in the closet, ironed, finished, CHECK!
Started this zig zag quilt yesterday.....and did a bit more on it today....I call it my zig zagging the real work, quilt. Not sure if it will become a queen sized quilt to compete with the other beauties I have, or will it be a fun lap quilt?! Hmmm....we'll see which way it goes! None the less, it sure has been a fun distraction.

zig zagging the real work

Took a peek at these wee little babies..........my husband has taken a new found love to his veggie seedlings....looking forward to planting a spring garden!

first leaves

The beginnings of our Summer salads and tomatoes, etc....

new signs of life

Peeked out the window at more gorgeous greenery and clouds!

Booming clouds!

and even more........

Sun and shadow

Made a fantastic batch of Gluten free chocolate chip cookies, with Agave Nectar instead of sugar! The best of both worlds! Recipe to follow.........

Gluten free, sugar free goodness!

Just one of THOSE DAYS! Unexpected creativity, just the way we like it, right!

Looks like a fabulous day! I love seeing those seeds sprouting. And your zig zag quilt looks great. I have my Good Folks fabric set aside to make one too.

Hey Laurie,
Just wanted to see if it would be okay to use a couple of your landscapes there to practice doing some soft pastel painting. I'm trying to teach myself how to draw clouds and those are some amazing photos! Let me know!

Looks like a pretty fantastic day!
Dumb question:
I've never had a garden before, but I'm going to have one this year. (Yay, we finally have a house with a yard!) I know that I'm supposed to start my seeds indoors right now. What are you starting your in? My cousin said she just plants her seeds in empty milk cartons, but yours look like they'd be easier to transfer to the garden with out disturbing the roots. Sorry if this question is totally retarded!

Melissa,
We got peat pellets from Walmart..you can find them at any garden supply store....you get a flat of 72 for only $6.00
You just put a bit of water in the bottom of the basin and plant two seeds per peat pellet, once they puff up with the water. Put the lid on and leave them be for a week! SUPER FUN, easy and rewarding!
Good luck!

Sounds like you had a fantastic day! I was in the same mood today. I had a million things to do, but it sounded more fun to make blueberry pancakes for breakfast and spend the day at the park with my kids. Oh well! We're allowed days like these every once in awhile.

I love your zig zig quilt!!! Gorgeous!
