Summery weather already

Time to get out the sandals and tee's and summery purses. I found some time to squeeze in a little purse project. I bought this fabric awhile back and finally found some time to make it into a bag. Doesn't my little five year old take great photos! Fabric found here. ~ More fun things to come............hope you had a lovely weekend.

More bursts of color

As you can tell, I'm on a big Indigo frenzy! Just using up bits and pieces of scraps, here and there...............that's what I like so much about having my own store house aplenty of fabric. No lack here! Here's a sample of the Melange green hutch I spiffed up last month.........

........and the Indigo mini quilt I made this week. This little quilt was something spontaneous.................I have a long list of "things to do", but I was procrastinating and whipped up this little window like jewel instead of tackling the rest of my list. I love those kind of creative bursts of energy! Speaking of energy, this one is just surging with energy! After having the privelege of seeing all the beautiful quilts at the Gee's Bend exhibit, I have since had the urge to make a simple scrap quilt. It is so touching to read and hear the stories of how the ladies made quilts from old clothes and basically what they had. I could look at their colorful quilts by the hour and never tire of seeing their beauty. ~

IndigoPincushion

A fun little Friday project!

Oh, I had so much fun making this sparkly little pincushion.
After seeing all the pretty pincusions here and there and over
here, I decided to make one of my own.

Have a wonderful weekend everyone!!

Getting ready for a birthday party

The girls and I are getting ready for Daddy's birthday supper! ~ Yay! Pretty hard to keep a secret around here........"Daddy, we're getting balloons for you"......and so on and so forth......It's all so cute.

Hubby has
ordered Curried Chicken Tandoori and Chocolate Cream Puffs
(all from scratch) :) YUMMMM!
I got out my new "Tartine" cookbook
for the cream filling. I have made the
simple cream pie filling a few times, and it is scrumptious. If you are looking for a super yummy cookbook filled with main courses as well as desserts and breads, this is it! I highly recommend it. Next time we're in San Francisco, we're stopping in for a bite to eat!!! ~~
Big sister dug out this cute old dress that used to be hers, and now it fits sissy, just as pretty as you please. It's from one of Amy Butler's older lines of fabric......still as fresh as ever.
~~ Lovin the blue sunny skies today!!! ~~

Pretty Little Garden

Seems like everyone else is showing off their beautiful gardens and fresh signs of Spring! Here are a few from our garden! We have veggies on the way already........gorgeous roses I planted a couple of years ago when we first moved in.........I love the Calla Lillies our friend brought over from his garden and shared with us. .............. . and look at the dove sitting on her nest!!!! This is from our good friend's garden. They are so lucky to have a bird nest in their garden! The dove is sitting on two beautiful eggs. Whats in your garden?

Company Dinner

Taking a break from the fabric.........cooking up a delicious dinner! Trying a new recipe I revised. Butternut Squash cubed and steamed with bacon diced on top and Kalamata Olives, purple onion, Feta Cheese sprinkled on top of the lettuce! A homemade dressing of olive oil, orange juice, salt, and a tea spoon of bacon trimmings (poured off the cooked bacon). Drizzle the dressing on top and indulge~ It's actually a Winter salad, but quite yummy! I steamed fresh artichokes, made a chicken dish with rice, and a strawberry apple crisp for dessert! YUM~

Show and Tell

Here are a few of the treasures I picked up this weekend! I painted a shelving unit a lovely Melange green, last month.......and now I have some fun little tins to store thread and sewing goodies in. Oh what fun! I have a big project to finish, so will keep this post short and sweet.
