Having a little fun

Here's a little spoon rack I found this past weekend, in Half Moon Bay. It was a dark wood color of sorts and I found a fun green to liven it up. It now hangs on the wall in my kitchen! It is just right for the small collection of spoons I have. I even have one spot left for one more spoon or fork! Maybe I'll look for a runcible spoon.

Here's the cute little soup ladle I found as well..........look, it even matches the green spoon rack!

Skirt Craze

Okay, Okay....i know I've been talking a lot about skirts lately, so I promise to post about other things in the near future. (By the way, they are sooo much cooler than pants in the summertime) But, before I move on for the summer, I just want to share this little project with you! Remember this! I started it back in the spring (April) ? Well, I did finish it......just never got around to posting it all finished! I am really quite pleased with how it turned out. Maybe i'll go into the skirt making business. Haha~ I got totally inspired to do my own version of this Anthropologie skirt. (of course the one over at Anthropologie is now on sale).......The creation I have come up with is really quite different, yet just as stunning. One of the things I've learned with art, is I always start out with a certain idea in my minds eye, but the finished product, whether it is a painting, quilt, photograph or a piece of clothing, it is so surprising to see what I come up with! A happy surprise!!! I do have a photograph of me sporting the whole outfit, but one of my dear girlfriends is in the photo, so I will have to clear it with her, first! So for now....ta-da......here it is!

Tall, tall trees and a finished skirt

Oh, how I love these Eucalytpus trees...........in fact, this is the outdoor playground I grew up in. We made treeforts, hide and seek and played for hours out in these trees in the hills........not many kids have this much room to roam in, just outside their back door! The deer, hawks, birds of all kinds, squirrels, racoons, and many more animals make this forest their home as well.

I was fortunate enough to catch the last few glowing minutes of sunshine outside, this weekend at mom and dads! I love to run indoors and grab my camera and just HAVE FUN playing with the glowing leaves and tree trunks. It's almost as if the fairies come out to play in the skittering twilight.

Here's one peeking out of the trees with her new Kaffe Fassett skirt, all finished and ready to wear!

I just love how this skirt turned out.

....and one more set of tree trunks covered with this textured bark and gorgeous fallen leaves strewn all about the ground.............waiting for the next generation to come play and climb on them!

Cool Refreshing Mints and Saffrons

As soon as I saw these latest Kaffe Fassett fabrics, I had to have them! Wasn't sure what I would make, but I was sure that I was lured by the soothing summery colors.......so I have another cool summery skirt in the works.....here's a little sneeky peeky. I have just the perfect top and sandals, so I'll show it off when it's complete! I had a lucky day on Saturday ladies, and I found some cute chocolate brown snakeskin wedges for ONLY $10 on sale.......just happened to walk by a boutique that was having a sidewalk sale! Yes, $10~ That makes up for the others that didn't cost $10~ Happy Wednesday, friends.~

Strawberry Jam & new Apron Strings

This fun Amy Butler Lotus fabric has been sitting around my sewing room for a few weeks now, begging to be made into a new summery apron. I scraped up a little extra time (something mom's don't have much of), and this is what I came up with. The thing that got me motivated is the baskets of strawberries everywhere you look! Big, fat, juicy, red, ripe strawberries!!!!! You can smell them a mile away (well almost). I picked up a flat of them on Saturday, and by Sunday afternoon we had the sweet, sweet smell of strawberries boiling on the stovetop. YUM~

Aren't they lovely looking! Nothing like a fresh batch of homemade jam. We all had a sample on some sourdough bread. Believe it or not, we had enough jam this past summer, to last us through the whole Winter and into Spring. Only had to buy one jar of jam last week.....so it was definitely time to make some more jam. I have a feeling there will be a few more jam making frenzies to come. We'll keep ya posted.
