Nesting....Fall is here in thought ..... but not in temperatures

Couldn't resist these pretty new pink pearly bowls ............... my bowl cupboard is getting pretty full to the brim, now.

pretty new bowls all in a row

We're still enjoying bottling it up for the Winter.........I am gathering the ingredients for pickles.....just need to find the time, now. Just look at this amber colored goodness! Peachy jam goodness ~

Bottling it up for the Winter

Making supper.....glowing jam in the background

This was our supper the other night........a Shepherd's Pie casserole. I added a layer of cheese and then mashed potatoes on top.........baked it for half an hour and oh yum! An all time favorite around here. Oh yeah, there is ground beef in there, carrots, red cabbage, bean sprouts, onion bits, peas, whatever you feel like layering............then the cheese goes on top.........and then the mashed potatoes! For fun you can throw in a yam or sweet potato with the regular potatoes, and then mash 'em up with buttermilk, butter, salt and garlic powder.....it adds a pretty, peachy-orange color to the mix of mashed 'taters.

Whats the weather doing in your neck of the woods? It's been really, really hot, here! Like in the triple digits. A tad bit cooler today......thankfully! Makes it painful to exercise out in the heat..........this is quite normal though for California weather. It won't cool off here, 'til after October! So much for Fall...............my favorite season, if only I could wear nice woolly, sweaters and tights.......just.waiting.for.our.turn.

Toddler.skirt.front

A peek at one of the three toddler skirts I made this past week.......They are ohhh so sweet. For now, we will wear them with chocolate brown tank-tops.

Happy Thursday!

The heat was awful yesterday.

I've never seen a shepherd's pie like that. My plain old-fashioned one looks very boring in comparison. I've only ever put cheese on top - is it better in the middle?

Hi UK lass in the US....are you saying you put the cheese over the mashed potatoes? I'll have to try it that way sometime.........my Granny always taught me to put it under the mashed potatoes....We just LOVE Shepherd's pie! Very English, indeed. My granny was English. Our kids love to slather it in Ketchup. :)

Triple digits here too! And I'm dying to wear boots! I'm loving your peach jam pics...I made loads of jam this summer pickles too, pickles are gone but the jam is still delish! I love your new blog header....so beautiful and fall-y! Is that my clutch up there?? I used the same fabrics in a clutch, minus the brocade ribbon...Love it :)
oh and Uk in US yes, cheese on top is the best! It gets a little bubbly and crisp.

So, scanning through your last posts I have concluded that I need to live next door and some how figure out how to get invited to dinner often!!!! What delicious and beautiful fall treats you have been making ... makes me feel like the lazy, boring cook that I am - sticking with my same-ol' same-ol', not very photogenic, regular usual menus! Maybe some day I can rise to new heights ... !?
